The side we don’t see…

Far from being dark the far side’s terrain is a complete contrast to what we see a rugged landscape with a multitude of impact craters and relatively few flat lunar maria. First seen in 1959 by the Russian probe Luna 3iIt has one of the largest craters in the Solar System, the South Pole–Aitken basin.

There is very little erosion on the moon, so the footprint will still be there……
